Town Hall Meeting |

Who in the Big White Community hasn't sat down for a little apres ski and had to endure endless dissertations about how our tax dollars are spent on the hill? Well, here's your chance to get educated on the facts instead of getting information from someone who isn't coherent enough to ski home. It's is our responsibility as stakeholders in the community to get out and voice our opinions on how our money is spent in 2010, and get the facts about the proposed 5 year financial plan.
Remember- if you don't get out to the meeting we don't want to hear you whinging! See you there: Friday, Feb 12 at 7.00 pm at the White Crystal Inn. |

The budgie smugglers are back!! Ok, I’m glad they were brought out of the closet ONLY on Australia day, thanks Chad! Like all other Aussies up here at Big White (we practically own the mountain), I was dressed in my green and gold undies over thermals, fluro zinc, flag, beer can attached to hand and flannelette shirt. There were girls snowboarding and skiing in nothing but matching mini shorts and singlets, and guys dressed as surf lifesavers, Steve Irwin and even one nutcase sporting a giant blow-up thong. What the?! It was a pretty funny sight to see a large herd of half naked Aussies shredding down (and falling up) Kangaroo run, which by the way I just found out, happens to be one of the most mogul covered runs on the mountain! Even Boomer the Kangaroo was out and about, loving skiing as well as snowboarding Big White on such a bluebird day! |

Avalanche Dog Fundraising Party |
Monday, 25 January 2010 13:12 |
Many of you will already be aware of Kate Guenette and her dog Clifford (see our story). Clifford is an avalanche rescue dog, and he and Kate have just earned the official title of "Team in Training" by CARDA (Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association). What this means is that because Clifford is the only rescue dog in the area, if there is an emergency he and Kate would be dispatched until the RCMP and search and rescue teams arrive.
Clifford and Kate are hosting a fundraiser dinner party at the Ridge Rocket Cafe on Wednesday February 10th, and they hope to be covered in an avalanche of support from the local community and other stakeholders at Big White. Tickets are only $25 and include a buffet style dinner, a glass of wine, dancing and plenty of prizes. There will also be a silent auction.
February 10, 2010 – Doors at 6, dinner at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Ridge Day lodge (bottom of the Snow Ghost / Ridge Rocket) or from Kate at the Ski Patrol hut.

Ride Share Just Added |
Thursday, 21 January 2010 08:54 |
Have you ever been down shopping in Kelowna and bumped into a friend from the hill who is doing the exact same thing? With a little pre-planning and a few moments putting up a listing on our new Ride Share in the classified section, you can easily get together with other people who want to share the cost (and carbon footprint) of a trip to town and back. Yes, there is a slight inconvenience that goes along with any car pooling adventure, but that's a small price to pay for keeping snow on our hill! |
