A group of residents have come to the conclusion that a Security Task Force could be a timely solution to some of the concerns raised at the meeting.  A number of tasks are being considered as possible focuses for the Task Force:

• Gathering statistics and information regarding resources, stakeholders and best practices that other communities have used successfully.
• Engage key stakeholders and together create a strategic plan to facilitate the best use of the resources available.
• Engage and educate the Big White community on what is happening with regards to security and how they can effectively be part of the proposed solutions.
• Facilitate and be ‘the voice’ of the Big White residents at ongoing security meetings that include all invested organizations and stakeholders.

The Big White Community has proved to be passionate about security on the hill.  Security initiatives include one security company funded by Big White Ski Resort, one security company funded by the local taxpayers, RCMP member volunteers and a reported 25 volunteers at the Community Policing Office (thank you volunteers!)   However, as the community grows, so do the security concerns.  A Security Task Force could be an additional asset and resource working towards the common goal of a safe environment for all.

The community members looking to form this Task Force are sending out a ‘Call For Participation’ to the Big White community.  If you have a specific interest in this issue, expertise in this area or just plain passion for the cause, you are welcome to become one of the founding members of the Big White Security Task Force!  Above all the goal is to work together to facilitate efficiency, effectiveness and positive change.
