The weekend’s events saw a combined number of podium finishes from club members with races both days. In the females 10 and under category Brooke Lukinuk clinched 2 gold medals while Sophie Schroeder and Makena Henirich each managed a silver and bronze. In the 7-8 boys division Isaac Athans walked away with 2 silver medals. For the 9 year olds Tyler Clark had an impressive 2 gold, Matthew Williamson and Marcus Athans each a silver, while RJ Lukinuk and Quinn Rasmussen both took home a bronze. More action with the 10 year old boys Zane Torres collecting 2 gold and Cole Pederson close behind with 2 silver and James Callahan rounding it out with 2 bronze. Meanwhile in the 15 and up, locals Ned Ireland took gold and Mark Manton silver. If you missed these exciting races no need to worry. Later this season the NorAm Ski Cross Championships will be coming our way once again to Big White Ski Resort. It will be a great opportunity to see some of the best compete right in our own backyard. And always a big thanks to Quickpics for the photo contribution. |

Big White Ski Resort, host of the BC Ski Cross championships January 16-17 saw some local young talent take podium finishes in their first ever ski cross races. A cross over event from their regular alpine training these enthusiastic kids from the Big White Racers ski club entered into a whole new world of competing. Coached by Gary Athans and Todd Thornle these racers proved SKI CROSS is something to reckon with.
